Cloud Acoustic Panels

Cloud Acoustic Panels. Treating the ceiling can often lead to the best solution for acoustic sound control. This is particularly true in larger venues and in commercial installations where windows, doors and art can make hanging acoustic panels on walls impossible. Drop-down T-Bar ceilings can also present an unwanted conduit for sound transmission if left unchecked.

Multi Shape Panels

  • Finished in Absolute White, may be painted to suit décor
  • High performance ceiling clouds in various shapes
  • Aesthetically pleasing designs fit in any room
  • Easy to install, eliminate echo to improve intelligibility

Paintables™ absorptive acoustic panels include a collection of exciting shapes that can be used as ceiling clouds, baffles or wall panels to reduce reverberation and improve intelligibility. The unique shapes and sizes open the door for architects, designers and installers to present clients with creative solutions that are bold, yet architecturally pleasing.

cloud paintables

Cloud Paintables include the circular Cirrus™, the hexagonal Hexus™, and the square Altos™. Each style is available in 36″ (91cm) and 48″ (120cm) versions, and are 1.5″ (3.8cm) thick. All panels are made from high-density glass 6lb per cubic foot (96 kg/m³) glass wool for exceptionally even absorption, and each is completely encapsulated in micro mesh with resin hardened edges. Cloud Paintables are factory finished in Absolute White latex on all sides and are ready for mounting. Unique to their design is a proprietary textured surface that enables one to lightly spray paint the panels on-site to match the décor without affecting acoustical performance.

  • 24″x48″ ceiling cloud with hanging kit
  • Eliminates excessive room echo and reverb
  • Easily mounts to any ceiling
  • Improves intelligibility for easier communication

The Primacoustic Nimbus is a high-performance ceiling cloud designed to hang from the ceiling and capture ambient energy by absorbing sound as it hits the face of the panel, all while trapping powerful reflections from the ceiling on the back side of the panel.

Nimbus Acoustic Ceiling Cloud

The Nimbus is made from 1.5″ (38mm) thick high-density 6lb per cubic foot (96 kg/m³) glass wool that is completely encapsulated with micromesh and resin hardened edges. The acoustic panel is then covered in either Broadway™ acoustically transparent fabric or coated in Primacoustic’s proprietary textured white paintable finish. Installation is easy using the included screw-in Helix™ cloud anchors, SlipNot™ suspension cables and ceiling hooks. As with all Broadway panels the Nimbus has been fire tested, achieving the most stringent fire safety ratings in the US, Canada and Europe.

Each Nimbus kit ships with two panels, eight Helix cloud anchors and SlipNot suspension cables, as well as T-anchors and eye hooks for ceiling mounting. Available in black, grey or beige acoustic fabric; or in a paintable textured white finish. The Primacoustic Nimbus cloud gracefully suspends from the ceiling of any room to provide effective reverberant control for improved intelligibility.

Stratus Studio Ceiling Cloud

  • Suspends over the console and listening position
  • Modular design expands to fit work area
  • Eliminates ceiling reflections & enlarges sweet spot
  • Easy to assemble suspension hardware

The Primacoustic Stratus is an acoustical device that suspends above the recording console to control early reflections, flutter echo, and to help eliminate standing waves that cause resonant peaks in the critical mix position. Once in place, you will immediately enjoy a more controlled and intimate acoustic environment, larger sweet spot, and reduced ear fatigue.

Studio Ceiling Cloud

Attractive and very affordable, the Stratus ships in kit form and is easily put together in minutes using a simple screw driver. The kit includes a 2″ thick, 24″ x 48″ acoustic panel made from high density 6lb per cubic foot (96 kg/m³) glass wool and suspension hardware. The glass wool is encapsulated with micromesh and the edges are resin treated to retain the minute fibres. For an attractive appearance, the panel is covered in an acoustically transparent fabric.

The suspension hardware consists of two light-weight aluminum rails and “L” brackets that form a rigid frame around the panel. To hang the Stratus, simply attach the included suspension wire to the frame. Hardware and fasteners for sheet-rock ceilings are included in the kit. Typically, the Stratus would be suspended above the console and clustered in an array spanning the width of your console and listening.

The Stratus absorbs sound energy by converting it to heat. Sound energy traveling via air vibrations penetrates the panel causing the minute glass fibres to vibrate and generate heat. This thermo-dynamic energy transfer effectively absorbs directional sound energy and prevents it from reflecting into the mix position.

By itself, the 2″ thick glass wool panel is 100% effective for frequencies between 400Hz and 20kHz (see the acoustic absorption chart). To help control a broader frequency spectrum, the Stratus may be angled to vary the air space between the Stratus and the ceiling. This allows the backing surface to also absorb reflections off the ceiling.
